Here's what we have planned so far for the homecoming weekend of Sept. 24, 25, 2010:

Friday:
- March as a class in the Homecoming Parade from Cahoon Memorial Park to the high school (the city's biggest parade of the year; bring candy to pass out). The parade kicks off about 5:30 p.m. Look for the "Class of 1970" banner (thanks, Mary Clink.) A large hay-bale covered wagon will be available to ride upon, if desired. Local classmates will give rides back to the park after the parade. A fundraising cookout outside the game offers a hot dog, chips, cookie and drink for $5. There also is food available inside the game (slices of pizza, hots dogs, etc.) .
- Alumni are welcome to enjoy cider, donut holes at the alumni booth inside the game. (Be sure to sign in; the announcer will read your name during the game!)
- Attend the homecoming football game.
- At halftime or whenever, we will meet in the front bar of the Ironwood Cafe, at Dover Center Road and the railroad tracks in Westlake, for refreshments and fun. Full menu available.

Saturday:
Cookout at the beautiful Clifton Beach Club on the lakefront in Lakewood. Cocktails at 6 p.m., catered buffet dinner of appetizers, grilled chicken, burgers, three sides and desserts about 7 p.m. The food will be provided by Oma's Catering of Bay Village, run by two BHS grads. BYOB. Ice, mixers, cups and coolers will be provided. Casual, warm dress. Live music will be provided by "The Others." Yeah, can you believe it? They are still rocking 40 years later, too. Eastbound Lake Road through Rocky River is closed, so take Detroit Road east, past Wagar Road to the large, green highway-type sign that says "2/6, Clifton Blvd." That will take you to the Rocky River bridge. Just over the bridge turn left on Lake Ave. in Lakewood, and another quick left onto Beach Road. Go down the hill, tell the guard you are with the Bay High reunion, and go straight ahead to the Clifton Beach Club .

Sunday:
In lieu of a picnic, classmates are urged to attend the annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast at the middle school on the corner of Lake and Cahoon roads. Plan to arrive about 10 a.m. The cost is normally $6 per person, but tell the ticket taker "Jim Potter sent me" and get $1 off. This is a well-attended event that attracts Bay Villagers young and old, and you will enjoy a memorable sense of community. Funds raised support the Kiwanis scholarship programs, a great investment in Bay Village and the future.

Cost?
- The cost is only $25 a person. You can pay via PayPal through this Web site, or mail your check (made out to "BHS Class of 1970") to reunion treasurer Jeff Koehler, 24307 Bruce Rd., Bay Village, OH 44140. Deadline for payments will be one week before the reunion, Friday, Sept. 17, so we can get an accurate count for the caterer. (Forgot to pay? Not going to eat? Who cares. Just come. There will be plenty of everything for anyone who shows up. We just want to see how you've aged....or not.)
Questions? Lost? Need bail? Call Eric Eakin at (440) 669-9686 or Larry Bennet at (440) 289-8924.

A golf outing sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking some type of scramble would be good, so those of us that have not played in years or someone that has never played could join in the fun of time with classmates and not worry about duffing their way around the course feeling embarrassed. Put out an explanation of how a scramble works. I'm sure foursomes would have someone willing to share their clubs or an old set with out of town folks or non-golfers.

Not a golf player - my younger brother Greg is a fanatic, maybe I should bring him along! I would like to look at the school, though!

Anyone care to join me?

Hello Michael, If you don't mind someone "plodding" along with you, I'll take you up on that offer. Sounds like a good way to see the old town.
